The game is named after the Greek goddess of fate and destiny, and the theming is heavily inspired by Greek mythology. Liz mentioned a Greek pottery inspired art style in her notes, and I agree this would be a on-theme and unique design choice that would work well in keeping the style relatively simple (avoiding a crowded-looking board) while still looking very visually appealing.
Here are some mood board I created to visualise the style I would be working in, these double as a sort of reference board as well. Most of these are images from Greek pottery works, but I added some images of Greek amphitheatres and architecture.
There’s some really interesting distinctions between white and black figure pottery, both of them have a great use of contrast between the figures and the background.
I looked into common depictions of humans and animals, the style in which they were drawn, as well as the prominent colours, and the shape of the vases themselves. Some shapes of handles and lids are very interesting and can be incorporated in the design.
One of the most important things I looked into were patterns, as this will most likely be the most prominent part of designing cards and the board. There’s a lot of overlap with Etruscan ornaments.
